Camp to Phillip Island offered students a unique experience to link their inquiry on Endangered Species to real life. They saw the animals in their habitats and came face to face with the animals, something they had never experienced before.
Together with friends time seemed to disappear. There were opportunities to build friendships, develop independence and grow as a person.
The students were open to new challenges and enjoyed the many new opportunities. Hopefully many took snapshots of their time at the Penguin Parade, the challenges offered through rotation activities – the giant swing, flying fox, trampoline, low ropes, climbing wall, archery, free play, and visit to the wildlife park and Koala Conservation Centre.
This Phillip Island Camp gave each one the opportunity to develop harmonious relationships with their peers, teachers and surroundings.
Besides Phillip Island the children went to Churchill Island and learnt about the history of the island. The ranger gave us a brief history of the houses built on the island and took us through the lifestyle, cattle rearing and farming on the island. This gave the students an insight into the life then and now. The lush green gardens and surroundings made us feel one with nature.
The paraliturgy at camp gave us the chance to gather as one big school community and thank God for the opportunity and for His continual guidance, compassion and care.

Having arrived at campsite the students had a go at the rotational activities – free play, giant swing, low ropes, trampoline, flying fox, climbing wall…
Everyone tried showing their skills
The hi-light of camp was the experience of feeding the animals.
Lots of photos were taken of the animals in their habitat
Luckily, the koalas were awake when these photos were taken and were climbing up and down the tree chewing on gum leaves.
Some children took to feeding the animals as if they were their keepers

What an amazing camp!
